A day of change: v0.9.9.4 & GitHub move
Posted at Jul 06, 2010
Two big bits of interesting news today, the latest stable version of PyroCMS has been released: v0.9.9.4 and we have moved our GitHub repository.
v0.9.9.4
The minor update to v0.9.9.4 offers a few small tweaks and several bug fixes:
- Added a "Script" tab to CP > Pages which contains a JavaScript editor.
- Upgraded TinyMCE to 3.3.8.
- The first photo will be displayed beside the description on the frontend.
- Added mime type support for "application/octet-stream" to zip.
- Running PyroCMS on a port other than 80 will no longer break login.
- Fixed issue #236: TinyMCE missing images.
- Fixed link in forgotten password email.
- Fixed broken TinyCIMM record in Permissions list.
- Fixed syntax error in french admin language file.
- Fixed "Read more" link in Spanish.
- Fixed issue of thumbnails not being created on photo upload.
- Drag and drop sorting that you do in the admin panel is reflected on the front end.
We really hope this can be the last version in the v0.9.9.x branch so we can release v1.0. We have stopped active development of v0.9.9.x so we can focus on v1.0 and of course the ongoing work on v2.0.
New GitHub repository
As some of you may know PyroCMS entered the world as one of Phil Sturgeon's various open-source projects but has since grown far beyond that. Now with more developers getting involved it has become time for PyroCMS to get its own "Organization" on GitHub which gives it more flexibility in who can do what.
It also means we can start to create way more repositories, for example we currently have three:
- pyrocms - The main repository for the core of PyroCMS
- documentation - Downloadable HTML documentation for the system, which will be included in downloads.
- module-forums - The first of many non-core official modules.
We expect the number of repositories to grow as we add more official non-core modules and themes. The documentation is the most interesting, as it means we can have effectively a wiki that can be forked and branched. When we have a little more structure in there we'll post again and perhaps some of the Git-savvy types out there can help out with some of the documentation, perhaps even translating it!
To finish up here, we just want to let you know that v1.0-dev is coming along nicely. The new media module is taking shape and we even have a surprise module or two which we'll be announcing shortly.
