Zoledronate, also known as Zoledronic acid, is available under the brand name Zometa. It is a medication intended to treat different types of bone diseases. The zoledronic acid uses include osteoporosis, high blood calcium due to cancer, bone breakdown due to cancer, Paget’s disease of bone, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Zoledronic acid comes in the strength of 4 mg. The usual dose of zoledronic acid is given by injection into a vein. The use of zoledronic acid during pregnancy may be responsible for the resulting harm to the baby. It falls under the bisphosphonate family of medicines.
